The purpose of this publication is to provide a broad understanding of the issues of democratic civilian control over the security and defense sector, its current status after the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On National Security of Ukraine" in June 2018 and designed for a wide range of readers. It is the starting point for this study due to the introduction of fundamental changes to the current legislation regarding democratic civilian control in the security and defense sector.
